At a glance
1 Who is responsible
This website is the personal portfolio of Javier González Serrano (JavocSoft), based in Barcelona, Spain, who is responsible for the processing of the personal data described on this page.
For any question about your data, write to admin@javocsoft.com or use the contact form.
2 Contact form
When you send a message through the contact form, the following is stored:
- your name and email address;
- your phone number, only if you choose to give it;
- your message, and the date it was received.
Purpose: to read and answer your message. It is never used for newsletters or advertising, and it is not shared with anyone.
Legal basis: your consent when you send the form (article 6.1.a of the GDPR) and, if your message is about working together, the steps taken at your request before an agreement (article 6.1.b).
How long: only for as long as it takes to deal with your message and any follow-up conversation. You can ask for it to be deleted at any time.
3 AI assistant
The assistant (the Ask me button and the terminal) answers questions about Javier and his projects. To do so, what you type is sent, together with the recent messages of the conversation, to the OpenAI API, which generates the answer. The same applies to the role description you can paste on the CV page to compare it with Javier's profile.
- Please don't include personal data in your questions: they are not needed.
- This website does not store your conversations. The conversation is kept only in your browser tab, and disappears when you close it.
- To prevent abuse and control costs, the server counts how many questions are asked from each connection. It does so with a one-way code derived from your IP address and a value that changes every day, so it can't be traced back to you, and this count is discarded daily.
Legal basis: your consent, by choosing to use the assistant (article 6.1.a of the GDPR), and the legitimate interest in preventing abuse of the service (article 6.1.f).
OpenAI processes the messages as a service provider under its own terms. As OpenAI is based in the United States, this is an international transfer of data, covered by the safeguards described in OpenAI's policies, which also explain how long it keeps API data.
4 Soundtrack
The music button in the header (and the "soundtrack" link in each project) suggests Spotify songs that fit a page or a project. It is a demo of the technology behind Pagefy, my browser extension. You don't type or send anything to analyse: the server takes the text of that page or project from this website itself and sends it, through a Cloudflare Worker, to Perplexity (an AI service) to choose the mood and genres, and searches Spotify for songs. Your request reaches only this server; none of those services receives data about you from this feature.
- To prevent abuse and control costs, the server counts how many soundtracks are generated from each connection, with the same one-way, daily-changing code as the assistant, discarded daily. A soundtrack is reused for 7 days before it is generated again; it contains only songs, nothing about you.
- The covers of the songs are loaded from Spotify's servers when the list appears, so Spotify receives your IP address and browser information, as with any web request.
- The Spotify player only loads if you press the play button of a song. Then Spotify may use its own cookies and process your data under its privacy policy; this website has no control over that.
Legal basis: your consent, by choosing to use it (article 6.1.a of the GDPR), and the legitimate interest in preventing abuse of the service (article 6.1.f).
5 Server logs and hosting
Like most websites, the web server may keep technical access logs (IP address, date and time, the page requested and the browser used) for security and to detect and fix errors. They are kept for a limited time and are not used to identify visitors.
The website runs on a server rented from a hosting provider (Linode, part of Akamai), which acts as a data processor. The Status page checks the availability of the projects from that server; it does not process any data about you.
Legal basis: the legitimate interest in keeping the website secure and working (article 6.1.f of the GDPR).
6 Cookies and browser storage
This website does not use cookies. Some features remember things in your browser's storage. This information stays on your device, is only used for the feature itself, and is never sent to the server (except the questions you send to the assistant, see above).
| Name | What it remembers | How long |
|---|---|---|
theme | Your choice of light or dark theme | Until you clear it |
achievements | Your progress in the achievements | Until you clear it |
book-sound | Whether the book view plays page-turn sounds | Until you clear it |
arcade-save | Your best score and unlocked projects in the hidden arcade | Until you clear it |
assistant-chat | The current conversation with the assistant | Until you close the tab |
terminal | The terminal's output and command history | Until you close the tab |
cv-lang | The language you chose for the CV page | Until you clear it |
You can delete all of it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. Your achievements can also be reset from the achievements panel.
7 Third-party content and links
To display the pages, your browser downloads some files from other providers. As with any web request, these providers receive your IP address and information about your browser:
- cdnjs (Cloudflare): the icons (Font Awesome).
- unpkg: the scroll animations library.
- jsDelivr: the page-turning library, only when you open the book view.
- Spotify: the covers of the soundtrack's songs, and its player only when you press play.
- Project images, loaded from other JavocSoft websites and from Google servers.
The website also links to other sites: the projects themselves, LinkedIn, X, Ko-fi, the Chrome Web Store, GitHub and others. Each of them has its own privacy policy, which applies when you visit them.
9 Your rights
Under the GDPR and the Spanish data protection law (LOPDGDD), you can at any time:
- access your data, and have it corrected or deleted;
- object to its processing, or ask for it to be restricted;
- receive it in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent, without affecting what was done before.
Just write to admin@javocsoft.com. If you think your data has not been handled properly, you can also file a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD).
10 Security
The website is served over HTTPS. Contact messages are stored in a private database, the assistant's credentials are kept only on the server, and the forms, the assistant and the soundtrack only accept requests coming from this website, with limits to prevent abuse.
11 Children
This website is not aimed at children under 14. If you are under 14, please don't send personal data through the contact form or the assistant.
12 Changes to this policy
If the website changes the way it handles data, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.
